HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Well folks, as promised, the much anticipated lobster outfit has been unveiled. We have had so much fun with Max and his lobster pot! Today we went to the Louisberg Cider Mill and did just a bit of trick-or-treating (see the Snicker's bar in Max's hand - last pic). In the picture below, Max is sleeping - that's right, couldn't even stay awake for the photo!

Zak won the Halloween costume contest (although I definitely voted for myself (as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle)). I won the 'guess how many m&m's are in the pumpkin' contest. Who knew that a Math degree would come in handy! Aren't we the cutest family ever?

Leave my snickers alone daddy!!!

Max wearing Mommy's hand-me-downs - You read that correctly :)

Today Max christened one of my baby outfits. My dad has a thing for airplanes, so I am sure this explains the somewhat masculine attire. Anyway, Max was just too cute in the get-up! I could hardly take it.
Coming soon: Max's halloween costume - we finally picked a winner from the three possibilities, and better yet, we sold the others on Craigslist!

A trip to North Carolina and the Doctor

Well, Max, Zak and I had a great trip to North Carolina. Max got to meet several very special people. Two of those people are pictured above - Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Bolick. He also got to meet his great Aunt and great Uncle as well as many friends of Zak's in town for his big ten year reunion. Although it was a very short trip, we so enjoyed the time with family and friends. Below you will see a picture of Max on his first plane ride ever - wow does he look excited or what? Here we caught another smile while playing with great-grandma on the couch! He is getting so expressive!

Daddy and Max at the Lake house - just hanging out!

I included this picture because there is such a difference in his size - and it is so obvious when you compare this picture to the picture of him coming home from the hospital in his car seat. I must say that I was rather excited when this outfit PERFECTLY matched the colors in his car seat - thanks friend Steven for letting us borrow this CUTE outfit!

And on the note of getting bigger, Max is now in the 30th percentile in weight (11 pounds 3 ounces) and the 40th percentile in height (23 inches). The doctor says things are looking great and he is 'right on track.' Yay, Max!

Zak and I have discussed how we are really getting the hang of things at this point and are cherishing every moment we have with little Max. He is such a precious gift. Stay tuned for more updates!!!

The Two Month Mark!

Can you believe today (10/6/09) marks two months since Max's arrival? I sure can't! I can't even begin to tell you how much joy little Max has showered us with in the past two months. He has been an enormous blessing.

A lot has happened since our last post. Most importantly, he's smiling (he is sleeping in the picture above, but it still resembles a smile - that pic was taken at the Dr). It is the greatest. We visited the pediatrician a couple of weeks ago and everything looked good. He weight 9 lbs 1 oz (15th percentile) and was 22 3/4 inches long (75th percentile). We had a visit from Lizzie Shepherd and she taught us some of the tricks of the trade that she acquired from her experience with her girls. I am a little afraid to type it for fear of jinxing things, but Max is sleeping at least one 5 hour stretch in the night. It is amazing. I am finally feeling a little rested.
I am done supervising student teachers for this semester, so my only obligation is teaching part-time for Insight Schools and hanging out with my boy! Zak and I feel very blessed that I am able to stay at home with Max and earn some extra money working for KU and for Insight Schools. It really is a great set-up.

Things to come: HALLOWEEN. Would it surprise you if I said that I currently have three Halloween costumes in the running for Max? It is a little ridiculous, but my am I having a blast with it!
